Fix: Windows 7 computer is put back into hibernation even after log on

Does your Windows 7 computer dim again or go back into hibernation even after you log on? If so then you may have to apply this Hotfix.

Lets consider a situation where you have configured your Windows 7 Power button to be used for hibernation on the computer and you change the setting of the ‘Password protection on wake up’ setting to the ‘Require a password (recommended)‘ option.

Now say you put the PC into hibernation.

Whenever you press the power button to resume the computer from hibernation, you will be prompted to enter your user account credentials.

You do so, but the computer instead, is put into hibernation again while you try to log on to the computer.

You press the power button to resume the computer from hibernation again.

In this situation, the computer screen dims after you log on to resume from hibernation.

If you are facing this issue, you may have to apply Fix317760 available at KB982635.
