Fix: Microsoft Office 2010 Service Pack 1 fails to install with error

Many Microsoft Office 2010 users have been facing problems with updating their Office 2010 installtions with Service Pack 1, even after ensuring that there is sufficient disk space.. In certain scenarios, the SP1 update has failed with errors like:

    • The installation of this packaged failed.
    • Code 78F Windows Update encountered an unknown error.
    • Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly component <component GUID> . HRESULT: 0×80131047.

Acknowledging this fact, Microsoft has now released an update which decreases installation failures for updates installed on Microsoft Office 2010.

So if you are facing problems in updating your Office 2010 to SP1, you can install this update and try again.

    What worked for me:(i installed office from .iso image)
    1. copy .iso contents to hard drive(windows update may ask for them)
    2. remove all virtual drives
    After this it worked…

    It says > the connection to microsoft exchange is unavailable.outlook must be online or connected to complete this action{I am online} >In the box It asks > microsoft exchange server & under. It asks >mail box. Then check names. After this It returns to the above?
