Do you change your passwords from time to time? It is recommended that you must always use a strong password and moreover always change it from time to time. If you are a Mozilla Firefox user then you can download this add-on called Password Age Visualizer.

Password Age Visualizer is a free add-on for Firefox that lets you quickly see how long you’ve been using your current passwords and which ones are now due for a change. This tool visualizes your password information graphically, with which you can easily get to know, which of your password needs to be changed now.

To access the add-on what you need to do is, after installing the add-on, just left-click the red colored padlock in the application bar of the Firefox. It displays your passwords up-to 200 days back and it visualizes the graphs in different colors depending on the age of the passwords.

The add-on simply loads those passwords that are stored only in Firefox. When you click on the red padlock, a beautiful page with some decent graphics load up quickly and show you your password graph and along with the graph it also tells you how many days back, your password was changed. When you hover over the graph bar, it tells you the URL of the website for which the password has been stored for. If you click the bar, it would show you the password in clear text.

The age of password is high-lighted in the time line using different colors – from more than 50 days old to more than 250 days old.

As mentioned, the bar turns into different colors depending on the age of the password. The bars turn red if your password is 200 days old or more and it indicates that your password needs to be changed.

The one thing that I dislike, is that this tool is not password protected – I mean anyone accessing your Windows PC can open this add-on and click on the password age bar to view the password in clear text – but then, we all know that Firefox stores passwords in plain text, which can be easily viewed by anyone.

This add-on is good for those who forget to change their passwords frequently and want to be reminded to change them. Folks who want to know, when they last time changed the password, might also find this tool useful.

Click here to download this Firefox-only add-on.
