Experience Windows 8 on an Android Tablet or an iPad

Windows 8 has yet to be released and so are Windows 8 tablets. But the excitement of experiencing Windows 8 on a tablet (touch interface) is a dream of every tech enthusiast. To make this dream come true, we are here to explain you with our simple tutorial, how you can enjoy Windows 8 on an Android Tablet or an iPad. Android Tabs and iPads are the leading tablets in the market that’s why we are covering a tutorial on these platforms. To do so, we will use an app known as Splashtop Streamer.

Things you’ll need:

  • A Windows 8 PC
  • An Android Tablet or an iPad
  • An internet connection
  • Splashtop Streamer app.

Splashtop Streamer

Step 1: From your Windows PC, download Splashtop Streamer. You can click here to download Splashtop Streamer for your Windows PC. Run the downloaded file and install the streamer, the setup would guide you throughout the installation. Create a new account with Splashtop and login in to Splashtop with your new account.

Step 2: Now it’s time to setup Splashtop on your Tablet PC. In this tutorial I will be using an Android tablet to perform further steps, but the same steps can be followed on Apple iPad. Click here to download the app for your Tablet. When downloading is finished, you may install and run the app.

Step 3: When you’ll run the app first time on your tablet, it will ask you for the Splashtop account, use the same credentials that you used while creating an account on your Windows PC. When you login in to your account, you will be able to see the list of devices on your tablet screen. Tap on the accompanying button with your PX’s name and you will be able to  successfully view your PC’s screen.

From this screen, you can enjoy your PC with the touch interface. Splashtop supports almost all Windows 8 touch gestures. There are lots of benefits of this app, e.g. if you are a  developer and you want to test some of your Metro apps on a touch interface, you need not spend money on new Windows 8 hardware – you can use any Android tab or an iPad to do so.
