Download:Windows 7 & Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 RC

Today Microsoft made available the Release Candidate of the upcoming version of the Service Pack 1, for Windows 7 as well as Windows Server 2008 R2 versions. With this RC release  we can expect the final version of the service packs to hit the public release around 2011 Q1.

Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Release Candidate will help you:

  • Keep your PCs supported and up-to-date
  • Get ongoing updates to the Windows 7 platform
  • Easily deploy cumulative updates at a single time
  • Meet your users’ demands for greater business mobility
  • Provide a comprehensive set of virtualization innovations
  • Provide an easier Service Pack deployment model for better IT efficiency

The latest build, KB976932, adds new features  to the SP1, the Windows Server 2008 R2-related virtualization technologies, Dynamic Memory and RemoteFX:

  • Dynamic Memory lets Hyper-V administrators pool available memory on a physical host and dynamically distribute it to any virtual machine(s) running on that host.
  • RemoteFX lets Windows Server 2008 R2 administrators provide a rich end user desktop virtualization experience by delivering vivid content, independent of any graphics stack, to server-hosted virtual and session-based desktops.

Along with these new added features, it also contains all the features which were added in the earlier release of SP1 so it’s a cumulative update for those who haven’t yet downloaded or missed the first release.

If you have installed  Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Beta on your machine, you should uninstall that version before proceeding with this release and yes … make sure that you are running a Genuine copy of Windows operating system.

Though the version is quite stable one, keep in mind before downloading that it’s a Release Candidate version and not a final version.

“make sure that you are running a Genuine copy of Windows operating system”

That means that if my windows 7 is activated with an activator, the SP1 will detect it?

I am sure that this is something that a lot of us are wondering now.
