Spicebird is an email and collaboration application built on top of various other open source software, mainly the Mozilla Platform and Thunderbird. The first stable version of Spicebird is now released and available for download.

It has all the new features of Thunderbird plus and includes indexed search, theming support and more. It provides an easy integrated access to various web services while users can retain all the advantages of a desktop application.

This feature rich software has a dashboard that offers a customizable home screen with a mini-calendar, news feed applet, and multi-timezone clocks. An email folder preview alomg with an Agenda list imported from the calendar is also present.

The Email client support IMAP an POP, multiple email accounts & identities, tagging, conversation views, signing and encryption.

The Chat client supports Gtalk, Yahoo, Jabber, MSN and ICQ along with and integrated buddy list

The Calendar includes a Local calendar, Events and Tasks, Alarms, differenit views and more. Remote calendar support is also available.

    Spicebird needs a Firefox browser, HTML editor and a FTP client, as I never could get SeaMonkey to work right.
