I don’t know if you are are aware but Kaspersky Labs release a fine calendar wallpaper every month, highlighting the history of malware for that month.

This months Malware Calendar Wallpaper Sept 2011  marks the anniversary of the arrest of the alleged author of the CIH virus (also known as Chernobyl) and also highlights the following nuggets of history in the world of malware.

  • 1991: Founding of EICAR
  • 2000: Arrest of the author of CIH virus
  • 2001: Appearance of I-worm
  • 2007: Author of Panda burning Incense virus sentenced to imprisonment in China
  • 2010: 5 people arrested in Ukraine for their part in an international fraud ring usin Zeus Trojans. Cybericriminals behind the RBS WorldPay hack were also punished.
