Create shortcuts to Turn Aero On or Off in Windows 7 & Vista

You can if you wish, create shortcuts to turn Aero On or Off in Windows 7 & Windows Vista. This post assumes that you know how to generally create desktop shortcuts.

Create AERO OFF shortcut

  • Right click on an empty area on your desktop.
  • Select New > Shortcut.
  • In the first box of the Create Shortcut Wizard, type : Rundll32 dwmApi #104
  • Click Next. Name the shortcut : AERO OFF , and click Finish.
  • Then select an appropriate icon for it.

Create AERO ON shortcut

  • Right click on an empty area on your desktop.
  • Select New > Shortcut.
  • In the first box of the Create Shortcut Wizard, type : Rundll32 dwmApi #102
  • Click Next. Name the shortcut : AERO ON, and click Finish.
  • Then select an appropriate icon for it.

Create Flip 3D shortcut

Right click on an empty area on your desktop.

  • Select New > Shortcut.
  • In the first box of the Create Shortcut Wizard, type : Rundll32 dwmApi #105
  • Click Next. Name the shortcut : FLIP 3D , and click Finish.
  • Then select an appropriate icon for it.

Clicking on this shortcut will activate Flip 3D.

Pretty useful if you want to turn off or on Aero Transparency, maybe, while playing Games.
