Create & Pin your website’s Tile to Windows 8 Start Screen

Most of us may be aware of the BuildMyPinnedSite wizard from Microsoft that lets you  pin website shortcuts to Windows 7 taskbar and start menu easily. The site has been updated and lets you create Tile shortcuts which you can pin to the Windows 8 Start Screen.

To create a Tile for your website, go to the BuildMyPinnedSite website and type your site’s URL into the specified box. Once you have done that, proceed to Step 2. You will be required to upload an image – preferably of size 144×144 pixels, give it a title and select a background color. You will also be able to preview it on the right side of the wizard.

Finally, download the PNG file and upload it to your site server. Then copy and paste the generated code below into the HTML <head> tag on your site.

That’s it!

I discovered this months ago, it’s not new!

Who told this is new ?

  • Ryan Plant

They are making out it’s new. The point is they are supposed to be reporting on new things not old. It’s taken them too long to report on this.

This is fantastic, I have been messing around with this for days.
    Thank you!
