Microsoft remained quite busy this year. One of the biggest event it is preparing for is the launch of the new OS– Windows 10. And of all the new features announced, the most exciting and awaiting feature was the introduction of Cortana – the world’s first truly personal digital assistant. It however, generated mixed reactions from the general public that made the developers of the OS think and offer users a simple way to easily clear Cortana Search Content in Windows 10, if they were concerned about their privacy issues.
Clear Cortana Search Content
Powered by Bing, Cortana is the digital assistant that gets to know you and gets better over time, by asking questions based on your behaviour. The feature detects and monitors the stuff you care about like, check the weather, find your favorite sports scores, track your flights and remind you about calendar appointments. It collects information like contacts, calendar events, speech and handwriting patterns and typing history.
To interact with Cortana, you can just either speak or type. Once. It has learned a bit about you, the service populates its home with information that is curated just for you. One feature that was been updated in the latest release was the ability to easily clear Cortana’s saved information about the user. Here’s how to do it.
Open the Start Menu, and then the Settings app.Navigate to the ‘Privacy’ section and there you should find ‘Speech, inking and typing‘ option.
Click on the option to make the ‘Stop getting to know me’ option. Another pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm your action. Click yes.
Now, you have disabled the feature, Windows 10 will turn off Cortana and dictation. This will turn off dictation and Cortana and will clear information on your device that Windows uses to make suggestions for you.
Users who are concerned about their privacy and desire to limit how much information they send to Microsoft, may find the feature as a useful addition, as it allows them to have greater control on Windows 10.
